9 weeks old

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Wow, 9 weeks has FLOWN by!  I’m back at work now and Gavin started daycare this week too.  He’s adjusted really well so far.  He sure has been sleeping well this week-  neither of us want to get up in the mornings!  It’s been a roller coaster for me all week, but overall I think I’m happy to be back at work.  We’ve been staying at my parents house this week while they are in Israel.  The commute has been awesome!  But next week we’ll be back to our house and start our routine w/ an hour-long commute each way.  At least we all get to ride in together- so its not like we are totally missing out on each other.

Gavin is getting a lot more interactive now.  He smiles and laughs and he’s just starting to discover his hands.  He’ll just hold his fist out in front of his face and stare at it and turn it from side to side.  So cute.  He has to have his shots next week- I’m dreading it already.

Great Grandma and Grandpa Farnsworth are coming to meet Gavin tomorrow so we’ll try to get some pictures and then upload this weekend!

5 weeks old

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Hard to believe its already been 5 weeks!  Gavin is doing great.  He really is a good baby.  Even when he’s fussy, he’s not that bad!  Poor guy has thrush right now (and mommy too :-P), so he’s definitely not feeling his best.  We’ve got some medicine now, so hopefully we’ll be all better in a few days.  He’s actually been sleeping really well at night so that’s a blessing- we just hope he keeps it up!  I’m feeling much better these days so we are getting out and about a lot more now.  Yesterday, Gavin got to meet some of the folks at my office.  He got a little fussy towards the end though… it was lunch time!  I put up some more pictures of him… I know that most of them are while he’s sleeping- but he’s just so cute when he’s sleeping- I can’t resist snapping a picture!  He is becoming much more alert during the day though, so I’m sure we’ll get a lot more awake pictures in the next few weeks.  Well, this was kind of short, but it’s time for bed!

Update- 2 weeks old!!!

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

Well, Gavin is 2 weeks old now.  The last few days are a bit of a blur.  It’s hard to believe that his actual due date hasn’t even come around yet but it’s like he was always here with us.  He’s doing really well.  He’s such a good baby- I can’t believe how blessed we are!  He is a champion sleeper- we actually have to wake him up to feed him!  Let’s just hope he keeps this up!  He did lose a little weight after birth while he was in the NICU, but he’s started putting it back on now and seems to be doing really well.  He is going to be a tall guy just like his daddy- he is so long already!  He had to have his circumcision done yesterday since they couldn’t do it while he was in the NICU.  I think that was harder for Mommy than Gavin!  They said he only cried for a minute.  He’s just sleeping it off today- which is why I have time to write this!

The funny thing to me is that he looks like someone different in our family every day.  Sometimes I think he looks just like Bryan, then I’ll think he looks like Mark or Jeff, or Chris or Brent.  The other day, I swear he made a face that looked just like Marshall- I just had to laugh.  And that dark hair… its actually curly when its wet!  We’ll have to post a picture after his bath.  That had to come from his grandmas.  The only thing about him that really looks like me is this concerned look that he gets on his face- this deep furrowed brow.  Too cute.

As for me, I’m doing really well too.  The c-section recovery is actually going much better than I had expected.  I’m really lucky to have my mom and Bryan’s mom come to help me these first few weeks.  I know this whole thing would have been so much harder without them both.  I’ll never be able to repay them!  I am getting a little stir crazy here, so I am looking forward to being able to get out and do some stuff in the next week or so.  Bryan had to go back to work this past week- and other than missing us, he’s adjusting to fatherhood really well.  He amazes me every single day and I just love to sit and watch him hold his son.

On the animal front, Duchess, Vader, and Chewie are also adjusting to this new little person in the house.  It’s hard to tell exactly what Duchess thinks of him.  She cries whenever he cries… or grunts, or coughs, or sneezes.  I can’t tell if she’s just concerned and wants us to do something or if she just wants him to shut up!  She is definitely anxious about him right now, but other than that- no big issues.  I’m hoping that she’ll fully adjust in another week or two and no more worries.  Vader seems to have adjusted to him completely.  She’s so laid back, I didn’t expect any different.  Chewie is very curious about him and all his stuff (so what else is new?), but overall- he’s adjusting pretty well too.  The funniest thing is that the 2 cats have both taken to sleeping outside our bedroom door now.  It’s like they want to be as close to the action as possible!

Well, we will try to update some more pictures soon and I’m going to try my best to keep up with this on a regular basis so that everyone can watch him grow!
